EarthArXiv SC at EGU
Here I come again --Same topic :). I literally copy-paste from last year's comment. The deadline for session proposals and short courses is due Friday. It should be a good opportunity to promote preprints again. Shall we put an SC forward? @friedrich1 @danielnust @danielibarra @christopherjackson1 @tomnarock1 @Leonardo Uieda

Not sure I'll be able to attend EGU, even if it's virtual, but happy to contribute what I can to a session. Thanks @David for putting this forward.

Not sure I'll be there either...but I'd be keen to see this session happen!

I think EarthArXiv should put this forward, and I posted this in case it was not on sight, but I do have a ton going on at the EGU'21 and cannot lead the short course, less so doing it alone --maybe we let it slide, then?

@David I probably won't be there either for the in person event (but will take part virtually). The online only short courses seem to be only a prerecorded video that they put up on their website with a pay wall (only attendants can view). So it doesn't like it's worth the effort unless there is an in person component as well.

I agree, Leonardo

This year I won't be able to participate. So I can't help.

I will be in Vienna anyways, so keep me posted if you need a mailing address for materials (stickers, prospects...). Stay safe!

Hi everyone -- I don't think that this went ahead, right? For anyone interested though, there is an open-access session at EGU 2021 (which will be fully virtual): "The evolving open-science landscape in geosciences" https://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU21/session/40091

We should go for this!

Hi everyone, just wanted to remind people of this session (convened by me, @leonardouieda, and others), "The evolving open-science landscape in geosciences": https://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU21/session/40091.
Briefly, "[t]his session is designed to gain a community overview of the current open-science landscape and how this is expected to evolve in the future. This may include software and tools for assisting open research, open science dissemination platforms (such as pre-print servers and journals), the teams driving the development of open-science resources and practices , and discussion on the regulatory moves towards standardising open access in the scientific community and what those policies mean in practice. "
As it is an EOS (Education and Outreach) session, it doesn't count towards your 1 abstract limit, so if you've got a cool open-science side project then this could be a great place to talk about it. Abstract submission is still open until 13 January 2021 @ 13:00 CET, after which time you can still edit submissions.

Here's a handy Zoom background for this...
