BTW This may seem like stating the obvious, but experience with consensus has taught me never to assume the "obvious" ;) Also, there's nothing wrong with plucking low-hanging fruit by getting agreement on some fairly non-controversial proposals. It's a way to get comfortable with the group, and the process, and figure out some baselines for what everyone has in common. This can really help later on when things get trickier.
