Idea of Safe Zones in Wellington
At the Alcohol Youth Workshop, the youth there had an idea about safe zones. These would be places where those that had been harrased by intoxicated people and/or those who are drunk and just need a place to lie down and regather their thoughts What are your thoughts on this idea?
This is also a spot where you can have your say on what these safe zones would look/work/feel like.

Most people agreed, but we need to define what a 'safe house' would be
This is where you can share your views on safe houses for intoxicated people to lie down and regather their thoughts. These would contain water, food, medial assitance and places to lie down.

In my head, these would be seperate from safe houses for people harrased by intoxicated people.

Build on the initiatives that are currently in place (ambulance/Forrester Lane) and learn from what others are doing in providing the social support required that will, hopefully, over time, lead to change in attitudes towards excessive consumption

I'd like to see existing support work in the Courtenay Place area continue, be more widely acknowledged and backed-up by a range of initiatives in the broader community.

This is a good idea for people who are too intoxicated. Although I agree with the sentiment that we need to find ways to stop that culture in the first place.

I think safe houses are well intentioned, but will tend towards enabling unhealthy drinking culture.
