Horizon 2020, Kickstarter/indiegogo

AV Alexey Vokhmin Public Seen by 338

Dear members,

in this topic we should select one idea for Horizon 2020/Kickstarter/indiegogo
We had some discussion by email, so what we have:

  1. router on ARM + OM with nice web UI.
  2. CubeSat (small sputnik).
  3. run OMV on SmartTV.
  4. Join OLPC and suggest OMV as default platform.

If you have any other idea, be free to write.

Only after selecting of idea we will go next: creating videos/docs, discussing about bureaucracy and etc.

I used to maintain a large set of scientific packages in Mandriva. But the toughest one is still under maintenance and fully functional, that is sagemath; www.sagemath.org

Some years ago I also made sure Mandriva provided everything EducatuX had; http://www.educatux.com.br/ government sponsored (debian based) educational distribution

Also, some years ago I had a large collection of ported to Mandriva software from http://softwarepublico.gov.br ; pt_BR and needs password, but it is basically a large collection of software sponsored by and for the government, 99% for Ubuntu - it included things like hospital/medical software, town hall management software, school management software, etc.

One task not too difficulty but nothing revolutionary right now as others already done would be a Steam OS port.

I think that are very good points as long as :
-- we have the manpower for maintaining the base distro
-- we well define which softwares we port and maintain
-- we have the people needed for such a maintaining, I mean we have the right number of people who will maintain the softwares for a reasonable period of time

@paulocesarpereirad Yes, completelly agree. But if you read the Horizon 2020 documentation there is a strong emphasis on that, specially on e-government tools. that is what I believe, if we had manpower we could deliver, the distro + some tool (that needs to be developed with cooperation form at least one public bodies) for management, interaction, etc. their refer specially platforms for the public institutions to communicate, interact and offer services to public.

On the other hand in the documentation for H2020 they also focus on "cloud" technologies. for example, from the ideas above, the great majority will hardly have eligibility for Horizon 2020, of course they are possible under kickstarter, etc...

the rest I agree with you.. and I miss on OMLx some scientific packages like a always updated R version and rkward... grrrrr :-) i need to develop my packaging skills to be able to do it myself :-) (I tried but failed....)

I went checking the open calls, regarding egoverment:
1) http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/2477-inso-1-2015.html
2) http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/2568-inso-9-2015.html
3) http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/2093-euro-6-2015.html

regarding open source:

4) http://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/2704-mg-6.3-2015.html

just 2 simple searches that can show the open calls on that fields for the H2020 and get some ideas of their nature.

also if you can simply search for ICT, or any other topic to see if there is any open call we can apply.
