If you would like to attend the second meeting about re-starting implementation of the New Future Plan (which will likely be strongly related to continuing development of the preVirtual Home), please fill out THIS SURVEY — within the next 36 hours.

Notes from the prior meeting are available here

Thank you Bob for inviting us : )

A question : why do you prefer using a Google form rather than the tools included in this Loomio to choose a date ?

Hi @dieudonne ... a couple of factors were involved:
1. the group of those being invited to participate in the meeting started as a group not on Loomio, and some of those involved haven't yet joined Loomio, so it was easiest to continue to invite them in a way that was as accessible as possible to them, even if they had not yet joined Loomio; and
2. until I went to post the invitation to the survey here (having already posted it elsewhere) I had forgotten that Loomio supports such polls.

Next time around, it's likely I would try using the Loomio time polling feature, as you suggest. Thanks.

Thanks for organising all this, Bob. I'm open and willing to be a continuing part of building the previrtual home website, although I have limited time. I'm also still processing a somewhat disastrous pre-assessment process, and in some mourning around NVC in general - whilst still holding great hopes for what the NFP can do to change that.

I can't make the meeting (wee hours of the morning for me), but will read the meeting notes afterwards - thanks for making that available.

Dear friends,

As you likely know, the New Future Plan implementation group I organized hasn’t met since March 8.

I’d like to provide a bit of an update.

A few things happened that led to my not setting up another meeting of the implementation group (yet).

  1. Some interactions happened that left me discouraged and “zapped” a lot of my energy. It took considerable time for me to dig my way out of the “hole” I found myself in.
  2. I got involved in some efforts to achieve communication with the CNVC Board.
  3. Support arose for continuing the meetings to transform the conflict in CNVC; I focused the limited energy that I had on engaging with those meetings.

Yet, as things have evolved, I see reasons to return to giving some focus to implementation.

Among other things, I’ve realized that it is important to me to experience a world where there is support for NVC people, particularly those with structural power, to have accountability and support for acting in alignment with the principles of NVC. Based on the latest information I’ve gotten, I now assess the odds against this happening in CNVC (in a way that would be meaningful to me) as very poor. (The changes I’d like to see would require: conversations with the CNVC Board happening, conversations resulting in shifts, and shifts leading to differences in the way power is used in CNVC — and addressing each of these stages seems extraordinarily difficult, in the current CNVC environment.)

So, I am shifting towards thinking that there really is no way to get these needs met without starting a new organization, complementary to CNVC (and working with those in CNVC where possible). If a miracle happens and CNVC “comes around," the organizations could be merged. But, focusing on starting a new organization would, for me, offer full confidence that any work done will be likely to be used, rather than being blocked in frustrating ways. (A possible name for the new organization might be the “NVC Collective,” which would emphasize the fundamental intention of operating collaboratively. The intention would be to frame the organization as complementary to CNVC, so that people wouldn’t feel obligated to choose between the two organizations, but could belong to both, if that’s right for them.)

This doesn’t mean that I don’t think efforts to achieve reconciliation within CNVC aren’t still important. I believe the fabric of NVC community has been significantly damaged by what has happened. I also believe there is ongoing harm as a result of the way that CNVC currently functions. And, many of the needs the New Future Plan hoped to attend to will be difficult to attend to via a different organization. I think it would be of significant service to the community to attend to these issues, through ongoing efforts at reconciliation.

I am about to leave on a 4-1/2 week trip to Europe, and will have limited energy to move things forward until I return home in July.

One thing that I would like to get started on as soon as possible is piloting people going through the curriculum on “Power, Access and Inclusion” (which is part of the Contributor Orientation that all those actively contributing to the organization will be asked to go through). Would you please let me know if you have an interest in going through this PAI Curriculum, and would be available to do this in the next month or two?

So, that’s a general update on where things stand, from my point of view. If anyone else wants to organize implementation meetings in the near future, you are welcome to do so. If not, I hope to get back to organizing implementation meetings again starting perhaps in July.

I welcome any reflections, responses, or feedback.

Warmly,
Bob Wentworth

PS. Here are some of the type of tasks I see as relevant to “implementation”:

  1. Piloting use of the “Contributor Orientation Process” including the curriculum on “Power, Access and Inclusion.” (This is the first-level process by which people are brought into formal participation in the Organization.)
  2. Adjusting and streamlining agreements that originated in the New Future Plan to make them more accessible and useful, and to adjust to the context of a new organization.
  3. Implementing mechanisms to support more experiences of “community” happening in the CNVC/NVC-O Community.
  4. Figuring out how to improve the pre-Virtual Home website so that it becomes something groups within the NVC community would actually want to use, and find useful in serving their group purposes.
  5. Figuring out how to make becoming a “Community Weave” easy, appealing, and useful.
  6. Supporting the Recognized Roles program becoming a reality.
  7. Strategizing about how to relate to the existing Assessors.
  8. Creating the legal infrastructure for a new organization. (This will involve incorporating a nonprofit organization in the US and/or in Europe. If doing both is contemplated, some thought will need to be given to how to integrate their operations.)
  9. Designing programs that could be used to create accountability among Certified Trainers and Assessors or those with structural power in the NVC world who choose to voluntarily enroll in these programs.
  10. Strategizing about how and if to relate to the IIT-RT (for administering IITs).
  11. Any other initiatives for which people have aliveness.

I have ideas about many of these.

Hi Bob, hi everybody,
I'm still motivated to contribute to this “NVC Collective”
And as before, I trust one way of on-boarding vital energy to it, is to set up easy ways for theses invitations to be understood in many languages. Even for myself I see I understand better things when I take time to find the right words in my own language and culture, than just reading in english. So I understand it takes time, and it's even more a reason to include translation very early in the process ; )
For instance, would it make sense for you to put a copy of your above message into https://nvc.miraheze.org ?
