How to change Environmental Variables

I'm totally stuck! I have so far successfully installed Loomio on Mac and can use localhost:3000 perfectly but I can't access it via the hostname(loomio.local:3000) or IP(192.168.1.112:3000) from elsewhere in our LAN. Am I right in thinking this can fixed by changing the Environmental Variables? If so, how do I go about doing this?

Great question, @michaelmcmillan. In development you can edit a file called .env in the root of your loomio repo. I'll update the tech-manual with this
