Who's keen to see this happen and why?

Hi, I'm Nigel Taptiklis. With an awesome core team and a supporting wellyverse we developed the Smart Energy Challenge. My intention here is to start a process similar to what was used to initiate the Challenge, and to take what we have learned over the last year, mash that about within a wider knowledge ecosystem, and then apply at scale for greater impact.

My focus for a number of years has been on the challenge presented by climate change. This inquiry took me through university and the problem analysis, and then into local government, which I see as a front-line of social, environmental and technological change.

My journey has taken me from physical science, into systems thinking, and into how we think. In putting what I have learned into practice I have learned that understanding and adapting my own thinking is the biggest lever I can pull to affect change. But this can still be the hardest lever to grasp.

We each have a diversity of inquiries, journeys and experiences. When we share a common purpose, and we can harness and focus our diverse efforts, we unleash great potential for change.

Global warming can be a scary and daunting challenge, and it is only one of a set of challenges humanity faces to living sustainably on spaceship earth. I think that only by really grappling with how to address such challenges, do we upgrade our operating systems to enable us to grapple with them.

And once we've done that, well, a mind once opened can't be shut...

This is a thread for anyone keen to share their journey and insights. What matters to you? What inspires you about this idea? What insights would you like to offer? Who else is doing great work that we should know about?

This discussion is set to public.

Hi, I'm passionate about working together to take action to solve our most pressing issues. I work in public policy and I'm interested in using innovative approaches (such as social labs and ULabs) in responding to today's challenges. I've recently completed Zaid's workshop on social labs and Otto Scharmer's online course on ULabs and I'm keen to use those skills in real world settings.

Welcome @jayjackson:

Hi there, I have been involved in permaculture for several years with experience in setting up and running successful community gardens, workshops and public presentations. Community collaboration, resilience and sustainable resource use are the forefront of my ideals with project management in community events being my favoured medium. Moving towards better understanding of how to sustain positive behaviour change I am eager to connect with other like minded pioneers. bless
