Hi Group: I'm so bummed out that none of the dates chosen are dates I can rearrange to make it possible for me to be in attendance. :( This is all going way too fast, I can't even seem to catch up on the many thread notices. My work schedule is insane right now and in the foreseeable future. I'm so interested in this and when I go back to read emails there are another 5 lol I super appreciate these lengthy notes. I'm hoping to catch up with you guys soon. Keep me in this group please. Tom Im wondering if you have June 13th at 5 pm open to doing a Workshop for our BTWSP Group Here in Sierra Sage? I'm totally happy to do a workshop at 5 pm Pacific time on Sunday June 13.
Yes we are moving fast but I think that's good in that there is a lot to do. Also conditions due to Covid are changing.

Jails/Prisons/PR & H&I. Discussion on PR presentations in conjunction with H&I. Many places having issues getting in some are not; varies. Get PR & H&I & Behind The Walls folks to them all together (or how #).
2) Change our Workgroup/Subgroup name?
What do people think about changing the name of the group from "PR and H&I has Shut Down" to "Revitalizing PR and H&I"?
While the original name certainly describes the problem, it's not what we are doing.

3) PR materials - Dennis you said you had information on PR, can you please share?
Discussion on this issue.
Put together a presentation on PR ideas. Example: how to do a PR video. Talk to Wilvena (NEZF); how she brought her Region & Zone back to life with PR (clarify as PI). Gather materials for PR (PI) and bring back. Resources tab in our Zonal website to put materials in for PR, website, phone line, best practices, meeting, etc. Contact all Regional PR if no regional get ASC folks involved. Provide an open forum meeting to collaborate about what their needs are and share best practices. Tom to get a tab on the resources website portion.

5) Discuss how we would have interested H&I and/or PR people meet to discuss best practices. Who do we invite? How do we schedule it?

Discussion to invite PR, H&I, BTW all regions and ASC’s – invite them all. We want to put in PR, H&I, BTW, Phone lines, etc. Where do we put effort – discussion to invite and gather information? Goal is to provide ideas and spark enthusiasm, not to say how anyone should do it.
How do we schedule it: suggestions flyer, call them, pick a date. Pick a date and make a flyer. Not conflicting with NAWS CP meetings, webinars.
6) Our deliverable is an Action Plan: What, who, when, how much $, and who monitors.
We need to all start writing this.

No additions or corrections. Presentation approved.
Tom is presenting this to Sierra Sage June 13.
Action items status:
Dean - getting a presentation to the various parts of the Zone invited and scheduled
We’ll wait for Dean, she had an emergency call from a newcomer.
Dave mentioned we need to get a size estimate so we know if we need to increase the Zoom account should we space for more than 100.
Tom – Talk to Wilvena and Dennis about PR material
Tom – Start a draft of the PR Presentation
Tom talked to Dennis and Wilvena. Received 4 presentations from Wilvena which were reviewed along with others and a draft presentation was put on Loomio for review. It’s an early draft and we all agreed it needs more material. Everyone is encouraged to provide additional input, Tom to collect and add to the presentation.

This was discussed but given the small attendance, we did not take a vote to approve it.

Dennis volunteered to do the PR presentation. He will be reviewing it carefully. Tom to do the H&I.
New business:
We also discussed getting Behind The Walls presentation material, both the recruiting type and the training of volunteers type. This needs to go on the website.
We talked about PR material for giving a presentation to a VIP – Warden, Judge, Hospital executive, political figure. Essentially how to do a 5-10 minute presentation to an individual that we want them to do something for NA, such as approve an H&I panel or have all EMTs at the hospital have NA meeting schedules for OD cases. Some notes are posted on the WSZF website. Do we need more on this?

Continue review of the Action Plan and the PR presentation – Everyone

Given the low attendance and the fact that we are supposed to be done by June 19th, we decided to meet next Tuesday at the same time.

Our workgroup met after some technical issues on 5/4/21 at 5pm Pacific Time
In attendance: Tom K, Dean H, Michael F, and Dennis D.
It was agreed that Tom would be the workgroup leader.
Discussion on Tom’s presentation posted on Loomio. It's also attached. Decided our workgroup will review, revise, and collaborate about the presentation by Tom.
Decided to develop a PR slide as well.
Discussion on developing presentations we can present to regions/zones/….. Inviting Regional PR & H&I chairs or committee members also ASC chairs if there is no regional committee (sub) chair available for that region. Michael suggests reaching out to others and bring in outside folks.
Dennis has a PPT and videos from his region on H&I to share with our group.
The vision is to put together valuable presentations with various ways to carry the NA message when we are stopped at the gate – e.g. Tom explained about reaching out in other ways than the front door when NA is not welcome. For example Reentry managers, speaker CDs etc.

The meeting ended around 6:15 or so. It has been decided we will meet on May 18th at 5:00pm as that is our polled time slot; perhaps meeting weekly after that until we have a plan to post.
These notes are 99% Dean with tiny additions from Tom 'the peanut gallery'.
