COP20 YoFuGe Day T-Shirts

Hi all

The FPs have been working with the Secretariat and COY10 team to design t-shirts and bags for YOUNGO for Young and Future Generations Day.

You can see the draft design here.

The discussion on the UNFCCC-Youth list is here.

This is a snap decision, so a 48 hour turnaround. The deadline for YOUNGO to make its decision and approve (or red flag) the t-shirts and bags, including the design and messaging, is noon Friday, Lima time.

You can also give feedback here on the slogan especially.

In Danae's last email she says "The official COP20 logo must be included in the design. Let us know if you are agree to include COY10 Logo and Peru Brand Logo." Does this mean CLIC is not included now? or it is just not up to debate?
I think we should just keep the COP20 logo. I don't see the relevance of COY10 after the event is over, or advertising the Peru brand logo in the youth's t-shirts.
I'm also all up for stronger demands/slogan!

I don't know if we can comment on the design, but here's my 2 cents on that:
I may have missed if other people pointed this out already, but the coal-fired power plant in the background really irks me. Shouldn't it be wind/solar/renewable? Also, the people in the picture are bordering on stereotypes which I don't like. I agree with the flag already raised about the European landmarks as well.
Could we incorporate the Care About Climate symbol that Natalie sent an email about earlier? http://www.careaboutclimate.com

If these are YOUNGO t-shirts or have the YOUNGO/IYCM "Youth Climate" logo on them, then, yeah, we have to be able to comment on, change, improve and ultimately approve the design.

If they're going out in YOUNGO's name, YOUNGO needs a chance to make its decision on all elements! Danae's email also confirms that YOUNGO people can work with the designer from COY10 on the design, so we must be able to.

I'm a huge fan of "Don't FCCC our future". I would also like "You've still been negotiating all our lives".

It would also be cool to do a callback to the Copenhagen messaging around a "fair, ambitious and binding" deal - now it looks like the Paris deal won't be fair, ambitious, OR binding!

I really like the "Don't FCCC our Future", but it's probably highly unlikely to get past the Secretariat. I'm personally not a fan of using anything from Copenhagen, and from my experience at COP15, the problem with the 'fair, ambitious, binding' wording was it often meant different things to different people and delegations. It was just a bit too ambiguous to be an effective political message.

As a slogan proposal, how about: "Divest, Decarbonise and Don't Discount our Future". That would send a clear political message that incorporates some of our main campaigns within the constituency: divestment from fossil fuels, a 2050 decarbonisation goal (something that Camilla and others have been doing great work on) and the work of the Inteq group on the discount rate. It's a targeted message that could really support some of our different campaigns and draw them together under one broad motto. Thoughts?

Hi all,
I already shared my thoughts about the design on facebook: I like the orange logo, but the background could be improved with a different kind of pictures, or at least from different regions (I can only distinguish Italy, France, UK and maybe two more I can't say). I also think people and the factory should be in different colors.
For the message, I am also for a strong one: in this regard I want to stress that, except for "don't FCCC our future" (which is quite explicit for UNFCCC), any other interference from UNFCCC is not acceptable to me - if their condition to funding us is having a voice on our slogan, then it's probably better to not have the shirts.
That said, I have to say I am really concerned about how this has been put forward and especially how many questions are just being completely ignored in the mailing list: echoing David, how the other sponsors (CLIC, YCA, COY10) have supported this? What are they doing to sponsor it? COY10 are providing design work, but the others? As long as these and other questions remain unsolved, this will most likely result in a red flag from me, though I will be happy to remove it as soon as issues will be addressed. Someone cannot just think to make things go forward by ignoring others' concerns.
