A zappier open source
Hi !
I think one of the main thing to do to build this ecosystem is to build an open source zapier like. Enable to create workflow between different apps.
The only open source alternative I could find is geekier. And it ended 5 years ago.
What do you think ? How knows about this kind of apps ?
Who would like to do it (try fundings, design it, code it, and so on...)
Geekier was abandoned maybe 5 years ago: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/geekier-apis/eoz8j0NXD3I
Too bad...good idea, except for the service in the middle. I wonder if it is possible to avoid that.
I don't understand when you say
except for the service in the middle. I wonder if it is possible to avoid that
So my point : Who would like to do it (raise fundings, design it, code it, and so on...) ?
I don't think anything can be done without a live requirement: at least 2 actual apps that want to do this. I have been burnt many times by developing software because I or somebody else thought it was a good idea. I think this is a good idea, but would not dream of working on it unless somebody wanted to use it in real life.
I agree ! That's how you get money, by fulfilling organisation or people's needs. So, it was part of the plan to do it for someone who will use it ! :D
I think this is an important effort and I can devote some time to it. The diglife special ledger aspires to do workflows with a bot/webhook ecosystem allowing users to wire user and group defined social object behaviours. Swagger seems the direction to go though we may start simpler as we have little funding and are short of developers.
Jim, got any ideas for what to wire to what to do what?
@draft - this is a great idea! I know nothing about geekier, but will take a look by tomorrow latest. Unfortunately, which is one of the usual blockers in open source project collaboration: different stacks. I don't know Ruby, and we're using graphql for APIs these days. We could revive our previous API that plays niicely with swagger if there is some OAE groundswell for this approach, though.
