Setting up a new group

Here's a mockup of the process

Setting up a new group on Loomio is currently pretty confusing. There's a lot of information that's either missing or duplicated. The ideal system would be a coherent start-to-finish process, guiding the novice user to set up a thriving Loomio community. Ben and I started a first draft of what this New Group wizard might look like:

  1. Set up group name, description + privacy settings
  2. Start a new discussion
  3. Start a new decision
  4. Send invites

The idea would be to train the user as they go through the process of completing these steps.

What do you think about this process?

For reference, Here's the doc I was working on previously

I have put some further comments in the doc. I suspect it is not clear enough yet. I see earlier in the thread a comment about user testing. Have we run this past any new users? If not then I reckon that is the next step. I am happy to raise a proposal but just didnt ant to until I had checked out if it had already happened

This idea is in the very early formative stages Viv - will definitely be user tested before development starts

Hi everybody. A week and a half ago I put in a request for a new group, and after I submitted the request, I checked Loomio and my email every day to see if there had been any action. I was so excited when, two days ago, I got an email from Ben informing me that the group had been approved!

I just want to share the thought that it would probably be a nice thing, when people submit requests for a new group, to send them a quick email letting them know that the request is being reviewed and that they will receive an email with more information. I wasn't sure if I was going to find out on Loomio or via email.

Thanks for everything you are all doing to make the world a better place. I love Loomio!
