When should we start resource collection?

J Janice Public Seen by 312

As Slack only allows 10,000 conversations, conversation 10,001 and greater become unavailable a more and more posts are made. That means every day we're probably losing references which have been posted but not pinned to channels. I am in the process of creating a Google Form (collected data is dumped into a Google Sheet). Should we start collecting resources, and perhaps post the collection form to the #women_techmakers channel?

Hi, yes, I think we should. And then we can decide what to keep or ditch when we're actually building the app. But we should just get as many resources as we can, I think.

I second that. It's best to start early so we have plenty of time to review and weed out the outdated or unhelpful.

Yes, I agree with you all. I went ahead and create a Google Form for resource collection. Could you please look it over and give feedback, please? Then we can post it to #women_techmakers so any and everyone there can contribute.

And @raem I'm glad you suggested going ahead and starting collection a few days ago. Sometimes with a project it's hard to get each task's priority right. Your input was very helpful.

And I just realized that I really need to utilize the voting capabilities here. I'm going to put this up as a proposal so we can do an official vote.

Let's start resource collection Closed Sat 3 Feb 2018 5:03AM

Because the Slack version our scholarship cohort is using is the free version, only 10,000 posts are retained at any one time. That means that, daily, resources which have been posted there are being deleted. If we wait until we have the app finished (or even planned for that matter) we will lose a LOT of resources. Should we post the Google Form (link below) to the #women_techmakers channel so that everyone can start collecting and contributing?

Perhaps share this with everyone? I don't know if it's also easier to associate the resources by lesson?

@jen16 Share the form with everyone? Or the backend data? Or both? I'm good with however we decide to do it. IMHO, I think it would be nice to give women the first opportunity on the participation aspect, though.
