When? And where?

We've committed to holding these events in the first half of 2016 - though we haven't made any decisions beyond that point.

The events will probably take 1 - 1.5 days (depending on feedback from you all.

My initial feeling was that the first holiday period would be best, though I'm keen to see what others think.

Even though it's still early days, it might also be useful to have a think about potential venues.

I'm not sure yet, to be honest. It would be awesome if we could get 60-100 participants at each venue, maybe more. That might sound ambitious, but we have over 100 schools with CC policies, there's 50k teachers in NZ, and this is helping to solve a concrete problem that teachers face all the time.

I also hope we can get support or endorsement from some of the bigger orgs in the sector, who may help drive participation.

Oh, and the comment box should be on the left hand side of the screen. I've attached a screenshot of how it looks on my computer.

Ah, an extension was hiding the comments from me. All good now. Will empty out the proposal.

I don't think 60-100 participants at each venue is overly ambitious at all, especially since these sprints cross disciplines.

It might be useful to have a few options at this point (i.e. medium and large), which can be booked later in the year / early next year.

I am hoping there will be enough entusiaism from Dunedin (or Otago/Southland) types to mount an event here.

The University has some good options for locations.

There are a handful of schools going in this direction in the area, so it's definitely feasible. There's a CC school in the Queenstown area, as well.

That we pencil in 30 April - 1 May, 2016, for the OER Sprints

[Edit: changed dates - original proposal was from 2015 calendar...]

The first school holidays of 2016 run from 16 April - 1 May. That leaves us with one or two days on either the first or final weekend.

I've figured a weekend is best for the non-teaching volunteers from the community, who may have day jobs.

Definitely would prefer not having it in the middle of the holidays!

Dates sound good. I agree that we should be looking at weekends for volunteers who work outside of schools.
