Proposal for EllaJune Community Forums

EW Ericka Ward Public Seen by 2

Hey everyone!

So I've been brainstorming some ideas for how to do outreach for EllaJune and really mobilize folks to start actively engaging in this community.

This thread to brainstorm ideas for EllaJune Community Forums.

Here are some ideas I've had:

"EllaJune Community Forums: Dreaming of a Radically Democratic African Diasporic Community"
Partner with local, grassroots activist groups as well as progressive non-profits and cultural centers throughout the African Diaspora to facilitate community dialogues about the concept of community-building, participatory democracy and solidarity economies in the African Diaspora.

Ideally, forums would be two days long over a weekend.

In the first day, community members would also screen videos from the EllaJune Video Dreams Project. They would then break out into smaller groups with facilitators and participate in a theatre of the oppressed/popular education style dreaming session where they collaboratively dream of possibilities for radically democratic community and support network in the African Diaspora. In the afternoon, everyone would come together for a democratic townhall to share ideas from the smaller groups and discuss next steps.

On the second day, partner with RailsBridge to host a free coding workshop.
