Fine tuning email settings: Should we remove global email preference: 'Email proposals closing soon' ?

Robert Guthrie PublicSeen by 58

Since the volume update it seems to me like most people understand the Volume setting and how to use it.

When there is some time, I think I want to make the following changes, and wanted to ask the group how they felt about them.

I think that the 'Email Proposals closing in 24 hours' user email setting might be something that still leaves confusion about volume, and may cause a user to not trust their understanding of volume, or think that volume is broken.

I'm thinking about the case where some one sets their volume to mute or quiet, and still gets an email when there is a proposal closing soon, because they have this 'user global' email setting enabled.

It's currently defaulting to off for new users, but I want to ask the community what it thinks about removing the global setting all together.

This would mean that you would get proposal closing soon emails when you have your volume on loud, or normal. And you would not get them if you have volume on quiet or mute. - Which is a simpler thing to explain than "the above, plus, you'll also get them if you have "Email proposals closing soon" enabled on your user email preferences".

I think it would make a lot of sense to get rid of that email setting option.

"This would mean that you would get proposal closing soon emails when you have your volume on loud, or normal."-- perfecto IMO

Personally I think there is a deeper problem.

Thinking that the options identified in the attached image applied in a manner superimposed on three levels: a) user account Loomio, b) group and sub-group, c) discussions

These superpositions generate conflict.
Am I wrong?

Carlos Gallo Garavano

I believe that the current volume must exist in the discussions, exclusively.

Delete on Volume "Total and Normal" the notification for new discussions

At the level of the group or sub-group (without superpositions)must exist the option to be notified or not, on new discussions.

At the group level, should always be informed of a new sub-group

@carlosgallogaravan I don't understand what you've written.

Carlos Gallo Garavano

@robertguthrie I think the English translation complicates the transmission of opinions

Carlos Gallo Garavano

Volume "loud, normal, quiet and mute" only in discussions

In groups and sub-groups, option to select or not to receive notifications of new discussions

In groups, always notify the creation of new sub-groups
