ENVI @ WB SCF - successes and disappointments

MV Marko Vujacic Public Seen by 439

So, 3, 2, 1, let's go!
Welcome, looking forward to our debates! My name is Marko, I will be moderating these discussions on the environment, in the next month+, awaiting the Trieste summit. I did not participate in these online forum type discussions in a while, so I am quite excited to see what changed in the world of online debating in few years.

For the first thread, and until more participants join, I would like us to touch base and ask you to outline (*in few sentences) key successes, advantages, and/or disappointments, even failures, the Civil Society Forum on ENVI had so far: from Berlin, via Vienna and Paris, towards Trieste now. Kindly, please focus on 2-3 key points, so others could be able to read it and comment/reply. My idea is to first identify the issues of concern, and then we move forward. If need be, we will open/develop other threads to address issues more in detail.

Its all been a bit haphazard in terms of organisation as if EBF doesn't quite get the issue area so its good that HBF is on this now. In terms of process and Paris - the only one I have been to - I was very disappointed we were in a completely separate location from the Ministry and Business/Finance groups who were also discussing energy and that the only two officials we met Kurz Aus MoFA and the French envoy talked for so long they were unable to take questions!

PS sorry for being a bit forward but I already opened a thread on MMR!

Thanks for breaking the ice. I will surely appreciate openness and forwardness, of course, as long as it is not offensive.

I fully agree. There should be a clear understanding on how civil society will interact with the Ministerial part and how any potential conclusions/outcomes will be presented to the Ministers as well as the follow up to these conclusions.

Here is the most up-to-date information from the European Fund for the Balkans on questions concerning ow civil society will interact with the WB6 Summit participants and how conclusions/outcomes of CSO consultations and meetings will be presented to WB6 Summit participants (Prime Ministers):

  • Directly in a short policy session scheduled for 12 July with several WB6 ministers of foreign affairs ad CSOs;
  • CSO recommendations will be delivered to the WB6 Summit organizers;
  • Civil Society Forum press conference
  • Organized follow up advocacy process in the aftermath of the Civill Society Forum

In that context it might be useful if we had the Ministerial agenda so we know what topics they are discussing?

Sure. Please, write to European Fund for the Balkans directly. I am afraid we don't have this doc.
