Main Multisig spring cleaning

K Kay Public Seen by 168

We need to restructure the Multisig a bit because Vojtech requested to be taken off as his responsibilities shift more onto his next projects. So while it is clear that we will respect his wishes, we have to be a bit careful about how to handle the situation, because Vojtech always was very active and quick to sign off on transactions.

To make visible who is on the multisig now and when the last time was when they were active, I made a spreadsheet

For successful execution of transactions, the quorum is currently set to 6 confirmations.

Vojtech leaving would put us in the yellow area where we would need to ping people that are not always active in the channel.

I will not make a proposal immediately about this, but make my voice heard in the thread here and would like to discuss the options at community meeting

IMO this is a good opportunity to really spring clean and give newer unicorns the chance to hop on to the multisig. We should not add more members (because the ratio is already in dangerous territory), but looking at when people were active gives us a good picture with a choice of replacing between 2 and 4 keybearers or better, replacing 1 or 2, remove 2 and reduce quorum needed by 1.

And please remember - this is also roles not souls - a very important part of the role is to watch the channel all the time

ALSO! There are like 4 other multisigs that we need to figure out... :-P I will add them to the spreadsheet

I'm happy to be on any of the multisigs you want me to be on. I try to keep an eye on everything all the time as it is.

Also, the main multisig has a pretty high quorum as it is, and every time that we need to use it we end up having to call in someone who isn't always around. Are we considering lowering the number of users on the multisig?

I think I'm one of the more consistently accessible and active souls, willing to take on an additional role in this capacity so long as it's evident what I am signing for and I don't have to double-check codes or contracts etc for the validity.

What to do if not enough DAI Closed Thu 7 Mar 2019 4:02PM

Outcome

Amended & passed proposal: We stick to DAI for regular rewards and a role is up for grabs in the roles sheet to make sure there is always enough DAI available to fund regular rewards. Griff has signalled interest to make this happen (as has done so uptil now).
This keeps it simple for people to use the DApp (no need to look into conversion rates) but still allows you to do all sort of trading outside of the DApp.

Tension:
As discussed in the community meeting: Currently we are in a situation where there is not enough DAI available in our accounts, which made Griff send some eth to the Comms circle (possibly others too), so my next Milestones will be made in eth.
3 months ago however we decided that as of Dec 15 all reg rewards should be filed in DAI, so this reality conflicts with that rule.

Proposal:
Ensure that all times we have enough DAI in store and only DAI is sent to Campaigns to fund reg rewards. Griff who de facto manages most of our funds would be responsible of making these transactions. Lanski proposed to keep track of all our finances in the sheet Vojtech created, so he could possibly also be the one to ask Griff to make another ETH-DAI transaction when funds are getting low. Alternative is to abandon/change the current rules on DAI & ETH.

TL;DR: Ensure that we have at all times enough DAI in our Multisig and/or in the Giveth DAC so we can respect the previous decision we made on reg reward payments in DAI. This will be done by Griff and - if he agrees - tracked & kept up-to-date by Lanski in the new finance sheet.

I thought the proposal would be about being able to do reg rewards in ETH also, which would be simpler, but lets see - I would make this dependant on Griff's voice, because he has to do the work. But I also want you to get funded asap, so I agree.

Seems like the way to remain consistent.

i'm curious if there's ever a time where it makes sense for campaigns to hold eth? Maybe when we're at a state where campaigns have enough money for "savings accounts"? I also thought this proposal would be for you to make your milestones in ETH, but you put that as part of the tension. So this is a new idea to me the proposal of ensuring there is adequate DAI in the Giveth DAC... but either way, i agree with you moving this fwd definitely not something i'm gonna block or even disagree

I mean... i'm not planning on storing extra donations in the dapp. We have to be able to run out of money and feel the scarcity. I will donate if we need it, but if i just throw money into the mix, we dont learn how to manage our funds as a community... we might as well be the government. What happened to converting ETH to DAI? or making milestones in ETH?
