Identifying active Coordinators among those with admin privileges in OAE

DS Danyl Strype Public Seen by 72

I noticed today that it's now possible to set a title for members in Loomio groups, to make it clearer what role (if any) the member has within the group. With new members coming into OAE fairly regularly since Open 2020, I think it helps them get orientated if the coordination structure of the group (such as it is) is more visible. I've set the title of 'Coordinator' for the group admins I know for sure are still actively involved in the group; Lynn, Bob, Oli, and myself. But I notice there are 7 other members of the OAE with admin permissions. A few questions:

  • Are you still around?

  • Do you still want to have admin privileges?

  • Do you want to be identified as a 'Coordinator' (or some other title)?

A question for everyone, do you have any questions about my thinking or my process here?

Setting a title and being explicit and transparent about 'coordinator' responsibility & privileges looks good to me @Danyl Strype .

When viewing members of this Housekeeping subgroup, Loomio warns

There is only one admin in this group. It's recommended that you appoint at least one more member as an admin.

Is this a principle to follow? Oh, I see you've invited admins in your announcement

Yes, I see that for the OAE group as a whole, there are 11 'admins'. It would be great - and good for the four 'coordinators' - if they were still at work here. Strypey did you put out a call to the ¿active? ones?

In your announcement you wrote "Please join this subgroup . ." But looks like we all are default members?

Any volunteers? Mike, you're an active member of this community in good
standing IMHO, and it was your UX feedback that convinced me this
subgroup was a good idea. Would you like to volunteer?

Agreed, and just to be crystal clear, I'm just checking in with those
members, and with the group, about where we're all at. At this point, I
have no intention of revoking anyone's legacy privileges, unless they
ask me to. I just didn't want to push a title on anyone who I felt might
be comfortable with that.

Ae, they were all invited by username to the discussion. They will have
a notification in the bell menu, and if their email settings allow, an
email inviting them to the discussion.

In your announcement you wrote "Please join this subgroup . ." But looks like we all are default members?

Yes, I used the 'invite to group' function for the first time, assuming
it would ask you if you want to be members, allowing you to opt in or
out. Perhaps everyone who is now a subgroup member has a checkbox ticked
in their settings, to accept every subgroup invite from groups they are
already members in?

I'm happy to be an admin/coordinator of this subgroup. And I second the nomination of Mike. :)

Hi, I'm happy to stay in the second line, passive, but a collaborator and moderating occasionally.
