We should change the name "Inner Circle" to "SOL Core Staff & Delegates"

OM Oliver Minter Public Seen by 34

Recently there has been a discussion raised by some members of the Inner Circle, that the name “Inner Circle” appears to outsiders as exclusive and elitist, even though that was not the intention from the Holacratic principles that inspired the name. Some of us within the "Inner Circle" now wish to change that term.
I therefore put forward a suggestion that we replace it with the term “SOL Core Staff & Delegates".

Ok... i'm starting to work the problem out...
lots of people including Robert and myself and others have not been able to see the groups because we didnt know where to look.

When I login to loomio i cannot see the following groups on my home screen and dashboard:
1. AEC
2. Grievance Handling
3. Petition creator
4. Short clip guru

----Until i learn to go to the right hand side of my homescreen and click on "Senator Online DDD Inner Circle" under the "GROUPS" section and THEN i can see the following "SUB-GROUPS":
1. Administration
2. AEC
3. Database
4. Fundraising
5. Grievance Handling
6. Newsletter
7. Petition Creator
8. Public Relations
9. Short clip guru
10. Social; media
11. Software
12. Website

then i guess i can click on any one of those and request to join one if i want to.

So i guess at some stage we should tell everyone how to actually find the groups...

Thanks for figuring that out Oliver. I didn't think of people not looking from the IC page.
Cheers.

yeah, your homescreen (dashboard) https://www.loomio.org/dashboard will only show you the groups that you are a member of. Once you click on the IC group, https://www.loomio.org/g/nzVv8a6F/senator-online-ddd-inner-circle, listed under "groups" on the right, you should be able to see all the sub-groups of the IC whether you are a member or not.

@peterlindsay @tomoliveri @emmawardle @francois1 @lbjoum @bergedersarkissian @sven3 @nickdebenham
please place your votes for this proposal....ONLY say YES if you want the EXACT words "SOL Core Staff & Delegates" to replace "SOL Inner Circle", otherwise vote "NO" or "WE CAN DO BETTER" Thanks.

@peterlindsay everyone just pretend that the word SOL in this proposal refers to our party name... obviously we are changing the name but i can't change the proposal's wording once it has been raised. (and the name hasn't been fully decided upon). Cheers Ollie.

Just to clarify, I don't think that the IC is elitist. Not at all. I think that language is very powerful, and that using 'Inner Circle' gives that impression to those who don't know us and don't know the holacratic model. It was actually first mentioned to me by someone not involved in SOL, but who is currently studying politics (who has an interest in how we go without particularly being involved unfortunately), as it had not even occurred to me previously. But I can absolutely see now how it could be taken and I strongly support a name change.

Also, I don't feel guilt over having a place in the IC and others not having a place. Changing the name of the group wont change the structure, as Ollie said, so that situation will remain.
