We should change the name "Inner Circle" to "SOL Core Staff & Delegates"

Recently there has been a discussion raised by some members of the Inner Circle, that the name “Inner Circle” appears to outsiders as exclusive and elitist, even though that was not the intention from the Holacratic principles that inspired the name. Some of us within the "Inner Circle" now wish to change that term.
I therefore put forward a suggestion that we replace it with the term “SOL Core Staff & Delegates".

I know you have only suggested a name change but I believe it stems from a discussion we had earlier where I suggested that the main group in Loomio be changed from "Senator Online INNER CIRCLE" to "Senator Online Staff" and then creating a sub-group for the Inner Circle, of which we would also change the name to something like "Senator Online Delegates".

By that I wasn't suggesting changing the way that SOL is structured, just the way it is organised in Loomio, so that proposals can be raised in the main group, Senator Online Staff, and all the staff can be involved.

That conversation stemmed from a Public Relations proposal, raised in Social Media that everyone wanted to be a part of.

@rickyj yeah i wasnt actually thinking of a restructure - just a name change - but i think maybe we need to think about a complete restructure aswell... BUT that is not what this proposal is asking.

there is a problem with the current structure that Robert and i realised last night - he could not see all of the subgroups.... so he couldnt see which ones he could join if he wanted to join them...
The problem i realised (i think) is that everyone has to first be a member of the Inner Circle before they can see all of the subgroups...

The subgroups should never ever have been made "sub"-groups - they should all be group in their own right. And perhaps we could refer to them as teams... such as the "Software Team" and the "Newsletter Team" - they are not "subservient to the inner circle" they should exist in their own right with their own delegates and their own unique social dynamics..

Okay, not a SOL structure change or a Loomio structure change, just the way we refer to the Inner Circle.

The only sub-group that is not visible is Website.

If you copy the IC link, log out and paste and go to our IC page you will see for yourself.

May I suggest that if you want to try another model for our structure, you create a new Loomio group and try it there. Leave this one as it is. You will soon see if people like the new model more.

I don't know which people from the sub-groups think the IC makes them feel “subservient to the inner circle”. Really, the sub-groups are the IC because it is the people in the IC who do almost all the work in the sub-groups.

I am sick of hearing about us being elite.

I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I think a few people in the IC feel guilty about having a place that excludes others.

So make a place that is open to all, and test your theories. Stop whinging and do something about it. Nobody is stopping you from trying another method.

oh ok @lbjoum ... its not that important... lets just stick with the idea of changing the IC name and see what people think of it... i wont bother trying to change any structures..
PS. i've tried to make website public now - but Loomio won't seem to save any of my attempts to make it visible to the public.. i logged out as you suggested and it is still not showing up...
