Approve payment to Sena Luphdika for translating the platform cooperative article to Indonesian Closed Sat 30 May 2020 12:04PM

@M Sena Luphdika has translated the article about platform cooperatives to Indonesian as requested and approved in this poll. I will personally pay him 20$ as promised as the "bounty" for the first article of a member. In addition, I would ask him to be compensated by our fund for additional 20$.

Our first article! This coop has been very inactive - contrary to what I expected there is much more people willing to pay to the fund than get funded by it. BUT I have very recently contacted a bunch of people who have said they are able to contribute by writing to Wikipedia. So I will expect there to be more articles in the future :)

This is great, it is over 5 thousand words. Thanks for translating it @M Sena Luphdika. I would just like to see more information about this coop fund on the user page and a link for more information for people, be as open and transparent as we can.

Don't speak Indonesian, so am not in a strong position to vet the work, but the google translated version looked good.

Also, I think there needs to be some sort of special code mentioning with the disclosure in the talk page, see the post on this

https://www.loomio.org/d/dDQxRYkh/how-should-we-disclose-the-paid-contributions-to-wikipedia-
and this is the template for paid editors

Although I am not sure if the rules are different for Indonesian Wikipedia.

It is not directing to the right page, make sure to navigate to paid contributor template on this otherwise connected contributor template.

This is great we are pioneering this crowdfunding model for developing the commons of Wikipedia.

I just read the rules again and I was incorrect, we are only required to disclose in one way, but maybe we should disclose on the page too. What do you guys think?

If I understood correctly you have to also mention it in the talk page (Pembicaraan in Indonesian) of the article? I'll read it again to make sure and post about it on the thread you started, and tag Sena. Here's a screenshot where you can see where the talk page is @M Sena Luphdika.

I added the connected contributor template for us.

But the paid contributor template does not exist in Indonesian Wikipedia.

Hi @Jonathan Bean and @Leo Sammallahti , thank you for the reminder of the disclosure.
From what I've found in Wikipedia, we only need to disclose in one of three places:

I translated the English template of paid contributor because like @Jonathan Bean said, Indonesian Wikipedia doesn't have the template for paid contributor disclosure.

That being said, I thing it is safe to also add it in the Talk page of the article, so thank you @Jonathan Bean for adding it.

Sorry for the late reply because in Indonesia we are in a long holiday 😆

It is not required but strongly suggested to disclose paid contributions in all 3 forms, as they want to keep track of these things and the template helps them do this because it has to be highly regulated to keep the neutrality of the encyclopedia, otherwise Wikipedia loses its reputation for being neutral, I know they are not always neutral on some topics.

Thanks for translating the paid contributor template and adding it to the talk page.

Thanks for putting a link to the loomio group in your profile and adding the article to the list of paid contributions.

I think following the rules and suggestions is the best policy and respecting their culture.

Thanks, this is going to scale pretty fast if we do it right.

Thank you so much for everyone involved in this fund, especially @Leo Sammallahti for encouraging me and my friends to translate the article to our language and also @Jonathan Bean that makes sure this program will be welcomed in Wikipedia by following the disclosure policy and culture.

I also want to inform that I've already received the money for the translation.
Thank you again to Leo for the quick process.
Hopefully this initiative will bring more articles to new audiences. 👍👍
