Welcome & Introductions - CLICK HERE FIRST!

Hey and welcome,
We've started this group to be an online interactive forum for Global Civil Society Coordination on the SDGs after September 2015. This page is open to all members of civil society from all parts of the world. We hope that this group will be a useful tool to help us continue having these conversations online and discuss together in a simple and interactive way. Feel free to invite colleagues and friends to join us!
It would be lovely to have you introduce yourselves in the comments below (name, organisation, country and maybe a reason why you are joining these conversations)!
A few tips to make using Loomio a better experience:
- Create your own user by clicking 'new to Loomio and completing the registration process -Add a profile picture. It's more fun like that and helps us know who we are communicating with.
- Set your user settings. Click 'email' in the top right corner and choose the settings for notification and level of privacy that fits you best (this can be modified later on).
One last thing to note: if you want to discuss something potentially sensitive that shouldn’t be public, you can choose the setting ‘Private: The discussion will only be visible to members of Group Coordinators’ when you start a discussion.
If you need help with getting your Loomio profile started, just click 'contact us' in the top right corner to get in contact with the staff at Loomio.

Lucy Pearson Thu 6 Aug 2015 8:26AM
Hi there! I am Lucy from the UK. I am the Advocacy Coordinator at GNDR - the Global Network of CSOs for Disaster Reduction. We have over 1000 members around the world who want to hold governments to account for not only the SDGs, but also the other post-2015 frameworks developed this year, including the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the UNFCCC Climate Change Agreement. I am keen that in acting as a watchdog, civil society should look at how these different frameworks are being coherently implemented. The outcomes of each cannot be achieved without the outcomes of the others; we must monitor that governments also recognise this.

Kholisile Dingiswayo Thu 6 Aug 2015 10:07AM
Hi all,
I am Kholisile Dingiswayo, a Director for Communications at Serodumo Sa Rona CBO in South Africa. For everyone's convenience, our CBOs' name translated directly means "Our Pride & Dignity". Boasting over 10 000 members to-date our CBO operates in rural parts of South Africa and shares a view to holding all governments especially African to account fully in respect of the SDG's beyond September 2015.
Coming from a country portrayed as having some of the best policies and constitution in the world, we wish to share with you all the challenges faced by millions regarding climate change, land degradation, defacing of mountains and deforestation as well as the eminent threat of sustained drought.
We trust that we will benefit a lot from your various experiences and help save our planet with the small contributions we all make.
Regards,

Michael Dohr Thu 20 Aug 2015 5:29AM
Hi all,
my name is Michael and I am working on SDGs and the post-2015 development agenda with UN Volunteers and the UN Resident Coordinators Office in India.
My biggest task right now is to figure out how to carry over the positive momentum of the inclusive debate on the new goals into the SDG implementation phase. We thought that it would be best to start with raising awareness on the SDGs, since we assume that a certain sense of accountability from the government will only be there if the public knows and cares about the agenda.
So how to tell 1.25 billion Indians about what the SDGs are? Whoever has creative ideas please step forward :)

Hi All,
I live in Vancouver Canada and am a volunteer member of the World Federalist Movement Canada, and active in the Vancouver Branch. I am also a member of United Nations Association Canada and the WFUNA TAP Network. I am most interested in SDG Goal 16 on Governance and want to see democracy at the Global Level starting with a proposed UN Parliamentary Assembly/Network. We vote Locally & Nationally, why not Globally ? Global Citizens need a voice at the Global Level if the success of the Sustainable Development Goals are ever going to be realized.
