LET'S GET THIS BALL ROLLING

EH Emily H Public Seen by 56

This is not an AP but a call to action and a space for daydreaming.

The space is booked for 2023 - but what next? A few planning threads have started - would be great to get more different voices adding their thoughts!

At the same time - what about fun things, plots, plans, dreams? Those who attended last year and are planning to return, is there anything you want to bring to improve the spaces, or a new idea to add? Those who are new to the community or could not make last year, have you got anything you’d like to bring, and/or do you have any questions about how the space may work with your activity/art/mystery/other?

It would be great to get a few things shared here, some conversation or just some nice things to think about and even get started on as we are firmly entering the crafting and hibernation time of the year.

Also: What about things you may like to take on?

Have you always dreamed of running a kitchen, or indeed fulfilling your fantasy of completing insurance paperwork? Follow this link https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NiQDR9zmb__a1s5HoW1uFAn59hsdqFB6fPvja_ExLNc/edit to last year’s organisational structure and process - a reminder that no one is “in charge” but that this is a flexible, decentralised do-ocracy.

Last year we used trello to organise tasks. Here is the link to the updated trello board for this year:

https://trello.com/b/uLHIY27K/celtic-burn

This is the same board as last year but all tasks from last year have been moved to an archive tab - could be useful though for reviewing how things were done, either to easily repeat or to make sure they are done differently ;] Not a fan and want to change it up? Great topic for a new advice process, so start a thread on Loomio and propose your idea : ) (same for other processes of running the event of course!)

New to trello and/or Loomio? A great video guide was created lats year which you can access on this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v9p7OlDVPQfaforh01FBM5NyveC9n_Uv/view?usp=sharing

p.s. edit: previously, Trello was used for project management and Loomio for discussion and big decisions via Advice Processes (see start page on Loomio / pages linked above in the drive)

I'll add my thoughts - I've been daydreaming about a few ideas, particularly about making the roundhouse much cozier and using that space better - including making some nice giant quilted blankets and loads of soft light for daytime workshops / chillin and night time partying!

Adele, you should make an advice process about how to use spaces

I was thinking of getting Dreams platform running again. Was that fun for people that saw it last time or is it too much extra?

My favorite thing about it is being inspired by what people are thinking. I would love to see even more ideas on there of what people dream of, and it be a giant mood board for our dreams and collaboration.

Hey all..

Just thinking about the space last year and how we used them.

I think it's really hard to make some of the spaces suitable for workshops etc since the rooms have beds in them and not much more space so I'd be inclined to encourage more additional spaces I.e. yurts or gazebos to be brought to make other spots available for fun things and to have a lottery process for anyone who wishes to sleep in a room. A lot of people may be opting to bring a tent/van anyway but I feel that some camps were created last year based solely on the prospect of getting a bed in a space which stifled creativity.

For placement, it would also allow us to perhaps keep most of the workshop/party space together rather than having things too spread around and have the kitchen/sleeping quarters preserved for that?

there is a thread in trello about space adoption - which spaces we have rented, and how to best use them - if we can understand which spaces we have and what they have to offer we can discuss there.

Think this is going a bit more towards something to talk about in a separate AP about how to use the spaces! (which we should defs do). But I don't think it's really fair to say people took spaces just so they could get warm beds - the final space wasn't claimed until the last minute and everyone who asked to sleep indoors did as far as I could see as there were no clashes on the spreadsheet!
