Launch Goal: May 22?

The culminating moment of the current round of the #BuyTwitter campaign's agitation will be May 22nd, when the Twitter annual meeting takes place. Should the #BuyTwitter resolution be voted down (and my sense is that's the most likely outcome), we'll have a golden strategic opportunity to potentially funnel many of the campaign's supporters onto our instance as a "next" action in the face of that disappointment.

However, we'll only be able to take full advantage of that strategically critical moment if we have a live instance with an initial governance framework that can accept users and payments. Can we achieve this? What are the key things we need to tackle to get to this goal in time?

Nathan Schneider

Regardless of the outcome of the Twitter campaign, I think this would be great.

Manuela Bosch

Thank you for putting this up. I might have missed other conversations. What do you mean by "governance framework" and "accept payment", for what?

Mayel de Borniol

We definitely should be able to have the instance (I had some delays with the domain name, but should be sorted today) and payments set up by then.

Thomas Beckett

Good date for "public" launch, but it might be a good idea to deploy the Mastodon instance so organizers here can start to use it and do some placemaking.

Stephanie Jo Kent

Would governance framework and payment stuff come under the policy & procedures working group?

Should everyone participate or are there enough varied people in that working group to design and make a proposal for the whole (current) membership?

Fyi @manuelabosch partially in respinse to your question.

Michele Kipiel

If that's technically feasible, then why not :)
