ENGLISH SUMMARY :

Belgian members of Parliament will vote this 16/02 on a text that is supposed to help fighting terrorism. But they're - once again - going to miss the target.

The proposed law will include a new article in the Code of Criminal Procedure.
This law will make mandatory for the staff of social institutions to provide, on formal requests, information about their clients that is supposed to be covered by professional secrecy. Also, they will have to report users when they learn (or suspect ?) about suspicious terrorist activities.
The aim of the law is to make the situation clearer, so the staff knows when it has obligation to report suspicious activities. But the new law doesn't make it clearer, because of ambiguities in the text.
Also, it raises fears about the future : it appears this principle will be applied to other professional categories, and cover more areas that just terrorism.

As we understand the limitations to professional secrecy, we can't support this proposal as it is unclear, dangerous and paves way to even more limitations, therefore we ask members of the Parliament to reject it.

Could you also translate the title? So it can be published on the website.

Can not we leave pirate party out of the title? It is like we are keen on taking fixed view points... Beroepsgeheim: het nieuwe wetsvoorstel klopt niet // Professional secrecy: the new law proposal makes no sense.

Can we consider this published or does anybody still want a Dutch version?
