I have been thinking that what we do for the fundraising does not have to be carried over to the next stage. We should have more resources to spend on image, brand etc.What we do now does not have to be perfect. So we can create some designs and see what we prefer.

  1. I am totally opposed to the concept of blocking anything. It was disasterous in the Occupy movement. I request postponing the vote and correcting the procedure being used. See separate explanation exceeding 250 char limit here.

Nr 2.
Mostly because it's the only one with a pictogram that would work standalone without the text.

I like no. 1 as well as it includes a rhomboid form :)

  1. A clear proposal is for or against one single proposition. I can elaborate with references based on extensive study of social choice theory and committee procedure if anyone seriously disputes that there is currently no clear proposal to vote on.

  2. I will be voting no to pretty well any decision about anything until we have discussed and clarified the implications of the announcement just made that the PPIS board wants no emphasis on Iceland. That may affect the choice of name Sunstone which was specifically chosen for implications of association with Iceland and therefore may also affect the choice of logo related to name as well as many other aspects of the whole idea.

PS The name Sunstone is also associated with:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunstone_%28comics%29

I don't normally read ANY "erotic romantic comedy" comics, but made a point of reading that one because of its BDSM theme and found it surprisingly good (and certainly an antidote to "50 shades of grey").

To avoid associations with Iceland, perhaps a BDSM themed logo might work. I would find something like female pirates with whips especially appealing.

(I couldn't resist mentioning it but am not proposing anything ;-)

I love the first one. I like that it gets the cube in and it says think tank. But I also like number 3 and 4.

Even if I like no 1 the best. I wonder if it might lack colour?

Number 4 is also sooo good! It reminds of browsing :D

It's not that the PPI board doesn't want any emphasis on Iceland. Not at all.
The original idea was always to keep the think tank international - the idea was to creat a place where we could store an share info/knowledge to figure out what is working best for us and why a "how to build a successful Pirate movement" blueprint so to speak. We thought it would be a good idea to have an international platform for this and we could also use all the help and good ideas we can get. Now polling at 36 % the few volunteers that are working full time are overwhelmed. The odeas was a thunk tank that deals with the practical issues of building an political movement - not the political ones. It would be nice to figure out away to share resources and knowledge.

Do to Icelandice law: The PP - IS can not officially be involved with any fundraising campaigns. The only donations we are allowed to receive are limmeted both the amounts and where we can receive them from.

Thanks @evathuridardottir

I have responded with some specific questions for you in the "Mission Statement" thread and suggest that we continue the discussion there for reasons I explain there:

@arthurdent Blocking one proposal because you are not happy with another part of the discussion could be regarded as being 1. off topic and 2. a violation of etiquette.

I like the form of Number 1 very much -- and I think actually it could work with or without the text -- but running it by some people, I feel it needs more colour; it's kind of bland as is. Would it possible to colour the sun-rays?

Andrew Reitemeyer

Andrew ReitemeyerMon 14 Sep 2015 8:55PM

It looks like number one is running as favourite - We could discuss colour in relation to a, to be produced later, style guide.

Rasmus Larsson

@pakki If you have the time to do it I think it would be great if you could do a couple of slightly alternate versions of no1 enhancing different aspects of it. Which we could have a second vote about at a later time.

2nd is the best one for me. It's easy to replicate, Not in need of many colors. Can be a really easy to recognize trademark.
4 has nothing to do with sun and 3 is too much complex for a logo

Pirate Party Emoji data set

proposal by Jelena Closed Sat 3 Sep 2016 1:02PM

Was thinking about emoji data set as addition to memes and laptop stickers, and all - thingz- digital we use to set and amplify our political discourse.
Initial thoughts for emoji's are related to core pirate principles, symbols we have in campaigns (grumpy cat, MJ, file sharing symbols, antifa, etc) + flame wars / trolls, administrative stuff...
What would you like to have as emoji served by PPI that'd be of some use to your daily digital life?
I know I'd like to have torrents as emoji.

I wasn't aware of this topic, so just for the records, I've started making a package of telegram stickers some time ago which I've never finished and it's documented here;

One would install the package through a link like this;

There is also instructions (in brazilian portuguese) in the wiki on how to produce them;

And finally there's more svg from where those came from (or there should be) on a mediagoblin instance.
