Loomio

Multiple logins and Look and Feel across web tools

The two key things that confuse non-geek users when an organisation uses multiple web tools (eg PINZ and TBANZ using a Drupal site, and CoActivate and Loomio) are; a: multiple logins, and b: different look and feel

The first problem could be solved by our Drupal site, CoActivate, and Loomio all implementing Mozilla Persona/ BrowserID. BrowserID is more user-friendly than OpenID because it uses the familiar email/ password login credentials, rather than a url. With this in place, users could move seamlessly across all three tools.

The second problem could be solved for PINZ members by our Loomio group (and CoActivate page) somehow adopting some of the the look and feel of our Drupal site. No idea how you'd code this, but the UX could be as simple as 'please enter your orgs homepage url', and having the back-end importing the CSS or something?

Interesting. Multiple logins sounds like an easy win. Could be good little research project for someone to take on.

I've been thinking about custom look & feel for other reasons:

1) I think usability would improve slightly if your different groups were visually distinguishable. Right now it is a mental effort for me to know which group I am commenting in. If there were a custom header image/colour/icon/some visual cue associated with each group, I think that would help.

2) It could also be useful to distinguish between groups based on whether or not they have paid a subscription for use of the tool. This could be a gentle way to incentivise formal groups to pay, without being too heavy handed. E.g. say The Big Bank is using Loomio and not paying for it, there would be some visual indicator that would let all their employees know their bosses are cheapskates. I'm thinking of something like a little heart icon in the header bar will a tooltip explaining that this group is using Loomio for free, and maybe linking to the Pay What You Can page.
