Hi all!
My name is Abigail Jiménez. I work on statistical seismology mostly. My main interests lie on developping new methods for all sorts of problems. Not a very field type of person. Although I went to a few campaigns, including one in Antarctica😀
I am supportive of open and rigurous science. That means people should have the opportunity to read and critisize your work. In a constryctive way, of course.
Thanks for inviting me to the discusions!

Alodie Sun 12 Nov 2017 3:43PM

Hi all! I'm Alodie! I am an early career structural geologist, occasional rock squasher and open access convert, based at Leicester University in the UK. I am primarily a field geologist with interests in: normal fault growth and interaction in basaltic sequences; porous (crystalline) rock strength with emphasis on anisotropic pore geometry; and controls on fault activation and slip during the development of oceanic transform faults. I am also the ECR representative on the committee for the Tectonics Study Group (TSG).

Christopher Jackson Sun 19 Nov 2017 8:13PM

Hi All! I'm Chris Jackson, a geologist based at Imperial College in London, UK. I like geology and cake. And beer. Or wine. Oh, and preprints. But I'm mainly here for the cake.

Anson Mon 20 Nov 2017 8:04AM

Hi, I'm Anson, and I'm a geographer based at University College London (UCL). I work mainly on Quaternary timescales, researching human and climatic impacts on freshwater ecosystems. Thank you for inviting me to join Loomio!

Victor Venema Tue 21 Nov 2017 8:23PM

Hello, I am Victor. My day job is the quality of climate station data.

I am a fan of Open Access and interested in Open Science.

My main reason to be here is that I hope archives help more people to get access to research.

In the long run a preprint repository would also be a beautiful foundation for a new system of curation and review of scientific articles by the research communities themselves. I want to start with articles already published in journals, but when gains credibility, we would no longer need the reviews of the journals. I call it Grassroots Scientific publishing.

brandon Wed 22 Nov 2017 9:10AM

Hi All, I'm Brandon Whitehead. I'm working as a data scientist in the UK while I finish my PhD from the University of Auckland. My background is in hydrogeology, GIScience and...geoinformatics. I like data. I like lots of disparate data. I like it even more when data isn't in a proprietary format, and is well documented.

IMHO, the current ways in which we share our data, information, and context is so antiquated it is, sometimes literally, painful. i'm interested in anything that changes the current paradigm, and projects like this one are, I hope, just the beginning.

Sabine Lengger Thu 23 Nov 2017 12:24AM

Hi there! I'm Sabine, a Lecturer at the University of Plymouth / UK and I am an organic geochemist / biogeochemist. I use organic molecules as proxies for environmental conditions and biogeochemical processes, in paleo and recent contexts. I have been envious of physicists and their arXiv for a while now and am really excited Earth Science is now there too! I think that it's about time academics #takebackcontrol #makepublishinggreatagain

D

David Thu 23 Nov 2017 6:12AM

Hullo! I'm David Fernández-Blanco.

As a person, I'm many things. As a researcher, I'm a source-to-sink regional tectonicist integrating multidisciplinary approaches to constrain vertical motions. I worked at UU, ETH and IPGP and apparently I like acronyms. I'm now in the post-postDoc limbo looking for a sweet position. Or a bitter one. Actually, any will do regardless of its taste.

I'm here to make wrong things right. Rock on!

wrenmontgomery Thu 23 Nov 2017 11:43AM

I'm Wren Montgomery; I'm a experimental high pressure organic geochemist (this covers everything from heavy oil to the interstellar medium; I started in physics...) and occasional (and somewhat accidental) astrobiologist at Imperial College London. I'm not very happy with the current state of affairs in science, and preprints for earth science seems like a good path to investigate.

Latisha Brengman Tue 5 Dec 2017 4:16AM

Hi All, I am super late to the introductions, but my name is Latisha Brengman. I am a relatively new Assistant Professor (at the University of Minnesota - Duluth) interested in geochemistry / sedimentology / petrology and problems relating to early earth system evolution. I look forward to being a part of the community, learning more about the open access / pre-print world, and meeting some of you at AGU!

Éric Lewin Fri 8 Dec 2017 5:41PM

Hi All, since I subscribed, I did not find time to introduce myself (nor to read and participate). Not going to AGU, as the year is trending toward its end, things (read "teaching pressure" and such) are getting cooler. Therefore…
My name is Éric ("Eric" if my accent, I mean the typographic one, makes the 1st character fuzzy on your screen) Lewin. I am a permanent researcher/teacher/"observer" at ISTerre (Institut des Sciences de la Terre), a geosciences lab in Grenoble university, France. I am a geochemist, dealing mainly with isotopes and trace elements, for Earth geodynamics (Earth budgets, mantle evolution…) as well as for Mars exploration (exogeology), and meteorites characterization. I tweet as @Eric38fr. 🐸

James King Tue 5 Jun 2018 1:25PM

Hi everyone, I have realized I never did this - oops. I am James King, Assistant Prof at Université de Montréal in Geography. I am a geomorphoogist of the aeolian flavour and study surface processes of wind erosion dabbling in subtropical, high latitude and planetary versions. Very interested in blowing wide open the publishing normals and communication channels in academia in general. Looking forward to help out where I can.
