About "OpenMandriva Lx" Definition

Hello,

We need a clear definition of OpenMandriva Lx (what it is, the goal etc)

This is not a motto (we already have one: "A pinch of Community, a pinch of Passion, a pinch of Innovation, flavoured with fun")

This is neither the definition of the association by itself (described in our statutes, and voluntarily vague for being able to be flexible)

This is really about the linux distribution by itself. We need first a simple "about" phrase (or maybe two) understandable by anybody, an objective easy to follow. This sentence is very important because we will clearly define what we are planning to do with it (And maybe we don't all have the same idea). It will be on front page of our websites, and media pages (facebook, g+, etc)

This will have to be approved by all the members, but I suggest to start gathering ideas, coming from TC, cooker, all the other teams and pods.

I agree with the 3 points. Along with them, however, can be a brief mention of Mandriva. Something like, "OpenMandriva Lx continues the legacy of Mandriva Linux by offering the same ... and the same ..."

I don't see this as a server-oriented distribution right now... I think we should rather target the desktop audience for now.

I'm to confused to agree or to disagree. But I suggest to remove Open-source (it's a development model) and keep just free software. Also refer to it always as GNU/Linux as it's more accurate. I'm negative to adding Mandriva references.

Hi. I am not sure about "leading operating system". But do not have my version now... Smth like "user-friendly, innovative but yet stable"?...

@katelebedeff i guessed that people would be motivated if we don't only want to have an OS but one of the top most used OS :)

@anuragbhandari maybe we could include your proposal in a kind of extended definition (more info etc)

Add to Raphael's proposal:

*It aims to be very user-friendly yet powerful enough for the most advanced users.

Or

Something like: "OpenMandriva Lx continues the legacy of Mandriva Linux by offering an operating system that is very user-friendly yet powerful enough for the most advanced users ."
