Expose Closing Proposals in UI More
As a group Admin, it can be a little bit frustrating for me to have several sub-groups with multiple proposals that are closing. Occasionally, a proposal will close, and the outcome will need to be set. It would be really nice if Proposals that were closing or about to close could be highlighted more, whether in notifications, a new view on the sidebar for groups, etc.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? I think making this part of the process more streamlined could end up helping everybody, especially those of us that have rather large Loomio groups.
Could notifications dropdown be improved to always show proposals before new discussions? Decisions are more pressing matters than discussions, and are "impending". Could proposals remain as a "new" notification until the user has cast their vote?
@seantilleycommunit agreed. I don't have immediate ideas about ways to achieve this, but I'll have a think...
Yeah I totally agree @seantilleycommunit. I also would like 'recently closed' proposals to stick around for a while too. Often I feel like it is an anti-climax when a proposal passed, when it should be a moment of celebration :)
You've got quite a bit of room in that top bar. Maybe 'notifications' could be split up into a few different drop down menus? For a start, one for comments, and one for proposals?
@richarddbartlett Totally agree about celebrating reaching consensus, it's a really important part of building the groups confidence in their ability to do so, especially when many (or all) members are new to the process. This is a tangent, but having a prominent place where all a group's successful decisions are listed would be good for that celebration, and also as a handy record, like minutes.
Would it be messy to change the group view so that it has both a 'discussions' column' and a 'decisions' column, like the discussion views do?
@strypey sounds like you are composing a mockup out of words. Balsamiq is a much better tool for the job :P
@strypey do you mean the notifications dropdown having two columns?
@deansatchell Maybe. Or just replacing 'Notifications' with two drop-down menus, something like 'New Comments', and 'Active Proposals'
@richarddbartlett Fair cop :) I found using Balsamiq a bit frustrating as I don't know how to import a mock-up of the existing site, and change it, rather than having to mock-up from scratch. If someone can spend a few minutes holding my hand at some point, it would vastly improve my words to mock-up ratio ;)
Ironically Balsamiq doesn't haven't the best UI eh...
I wrote some quick instructions on how to duplicate project assets in the description here. It's pretty clunky; @strypey feel free to email me if you have any questions :)
I often miss when proposals are closing as well... I agree we should highlight more. Not sure what the best design is.
