Parish assets crowd sourcing

KW Kristin Warry Public Seen by 21

The Parishes around the country are about to start managing much of the land and paths, plus assets like play areas and bins. The aim is to quickly collate a case study for transmission (hopefully) via NALC for mutual benefit. I am going to use my village with the full cooperation of the parish council already acquired, but would welcome some additional varied data such as coastal areas, dual language areas etc. that aren’t really available in Wiltshire 😉

ie unless you click on the edge of the allotments, nothing shows up!

Hi Kristin

I'm not sure which person you've been in touch with before now, so excuse me butting in to an existing conversation if it's not helpful. (I'm also new to this Loomio forum, so everyone else please forgive any breach of netiquette!)

I think getting parishes on OSM is absolutely great, so all power to your effort. I hope you find quick and easy answers to your questions.

My newcomer’s eyes are clouding over a bit, but I agree with your sentiment that there is a job to do to make editing the map more intuitive and more quickly learnable. But the essence of OSM is mutual help, so hopefully you will find answers from others fairly easily (and if you log all your puzzles and annoyances somewhere, that could contribute to discussions on continual improvement).

This Loomio forum is very low traffic (mainly for making decisions about the activities of that fragment of the UK effort that is organised and incorporated). So I think the forum or OSM Help may be a better bet for practical help.

Having said that…

I’ve tried to make sense of your question, and have written a full response on my ‘Talk’ page on ‘the Wiki’. Forgive me if it’s teaching you to suck eggs as you may know a lot of what I’ve written. But I hope some of it may be helpful.

Kind regards,

Edward

Thanks for responding. I have added some notes to your wiki.

Have suggested we actually talk, as this looks to me currently as a non starter. Whilst I am well able to correct the issues on a one by one basis, the parishes aren’t.

Thanks for the note.

I don't actually see any notes on my wiki page. Not to worry - I will message you through Loomio with my number. If that doesn't work, feel free to message me through my map 'inbox', or share your map username here and I'll message you.

Hi Kristin. Also happy to help if needed. I think it is just a different way of working in regards to how you select polygons (as that is what they are stored as) using OpenStreeMap's ID Editor. As for the colour being green not brown, as per the legend; this is a recent change and the legend is now out of date.
