If it's a specific question about a particular brief, please add this to the thread of the brief in question.

Community guidelines

Please be polite, respectful and friendly in your interactions. We are all doing vital work supporting civil society to respond to urgent needs, with valuable knowledge and insight to share and learn from. Be great at giving and getting help.

This is an experiment in how we might create a more open space for contracting digital projects. The aim is more collaboratively-reached agreements and value created/shared throughout the process. There will definitely be things that need improving, so please help us make it better :)

With love from the Catalyst team x

great points, Dan. totally agree. (especially with the one about unsubscribing from a thread, that will help make it much more manageable.)

Hi Ellie. I'm really liking the Loomio process so far, but do have a bit of feedback:

First up, I think we need much more lead time before project start. I saw John at Devs say the same thing. Only having a week or so before poll ending or pitch and start date puts a lot of risk on us as we're keeping time aside, and then might not win it leaving us with a gapping hole, or we don't have the capacity, which means missing out on great projects. It basically means the agencies winning the jobs may be the ones who can drop things or don't have work on, and that isn't necessarily a level playing field. Having the pitch a good month before start date would be ideal.

I agree with Andy on the project names. It's nice that it's about a general view of the project, but it is a little confusing. If there are to be a load of projects on here, esp if they're open at the same time, it would be handy to have the name as just explicitly what it is, like 'discovery and strategy for mental health cluster' or 'design and Drupal build for disability charity'.

Having some kind of clarity on what the next phase of the project is would be useful, if relevant, such as 'discovery for mental health cluster' explaining that this is a phase 1 for a product build for the charities. I know this won't be possible on all projects as you may not know, but if you do, it means you'll get a better agency choice for phase 1and agencies might make more effort to apply for a phase 1 if they think there's a decent phase 2. Hactar, for example, would be less likely to do a discovery for an org looking for off the shelf products than a bespoke web build.

I think that's about it really. I guess this boils down to just making it really clear for the agencies.
