On Sunday May 3, 2026, we will hold a joint working session with cosocial.ca to improve both co-op's procedures. It will run from 9:30a (in your timezone) to 11:30a Pacific

Signup here if you want a reminder of the event: https://luma.com/idrmhn2q

Past Topics that could be expanded on:

Clarify Co-op Membership

Who do we want to join our co-op? How can we better communicate this?

Content Audit

What other public-facing surfaces do we have? Can we update them to be consistent with the blurb from the Co-op Membership track of work?

Improve Discovery

How can we improve discovery of social.coop? what is stopping us from being on http://joinmastodon.org/ or other server lists that might be a better fit?

Multiple language support

What would we like this to look like? how can we start down a path to supporting multiple languages?

Potential Topics that could be started:

Moderation Flowchart

What would a clear decision flow look like for deciding which moderation action (if any) to take? There's a lot of options and they are not identical if the reportee is on another server. (We documented some of this complexity on the wiki https://wiki.social.coop/wiki/Reporting_guide )

Design Welcome

How could we best welcome people to our community? This is where we might brainstorm onboarding cohorts or mentors, or something else entirely!

Anything else folks want to work on!

Feel free to pitch other ideas that you want to work on with people!

Who is this session for:

Members of either co-op who wish to contribute to the documentation and improve the processes of onboarding.

(I'm going to stop making wiki pages for these 2 hour working session hackathons because they don't feel that useful! let me know if I'm wrong and I should keep making the wiki page version!)

FYI the fediverse.party team are curating a list of service finders and stats sites.

How could we best welcome people to our community?

A simple welcome bot is one suggestion that's come up a few times.
