perhaps we could also set up a way for members to “donate” their member discount for a few weeks, if intersted, to help offset a portion of the payables.—VF

Both on an individual and company level though not sure who knows how to do that with a fiscal partner. Can offer to forward 100% of proceeds towards groceries to affected workers? Don't know if charitable donations are even an option to bother with tax wise these days.

This would be pretty difficult with our current system, since each person "donating" their discount would have to figure out what it was, undo it in the register, and yet still somehow pay it and then notify accounting (i.e. me) individually. Probably easier if we want to do something like this to just have people drop cash in the donation box at the register and then we can use that to offset our costs.

agreed. We could word the donation box as "100% proceeds go to food purchase for those affected". We could also set up a paypal (or other account) on website so corporate/companies can pitch in too. Do we have an umbrella sponsor for tax deductible donations? Not sure who to ask.
