Outer Space Mascots for passing out hand bills, event promotion, etc.

Arcata Artist Dorian Daneau has created the 3 large "Ogre / Outer Space People" Masks in the glass display case by the front door.

These items are not for sale, but are on loan to volunteers of Outer Space to use as our mascots when promoting events.

So far, we've been wearing them out and walking around down town arcata while passing out hand bills for the show we have that night. Since the shows start at 7pm, we usually do the mascot promotion from 6pm-7pm to capture an audience who is milling around town, maybe looking for something to do.

The mascots are open to interpretation and evolution in terms of a more complete costume, but so far we've just been walking around and being unobstrusive.

Standing around in a circle at an intersection or in front of business or busy pedestrian area quickly attracts a crowd.

We minimally interact with the public while wearing the mascot outfit -- Only holding out flyers and letting people take a flyer if they are interested, not forcing them onto anyone. This limits waste as well as only attracting people who are maybe interested in what's going on at our space aka the young and weird.

We do not speak as the mascot, except for the phrase, "OUTER SPACE."

People will often what you are doing, or where you're from, or what's going on. We just say "OUTER SPACE" and offer a flyer.

Any volunteers are welcome to do this promotional mascot job before any gig.

PLEASE TREAT THE MASKS WITH RESPECT, BE CAREFUL, DON'T GET HIT BY A CAR OR WALK INTO LOW HANGING BRANCHES. THE MASKS ARE QUITE TALL.

Please return the masks to the glass display case as soon as you return to Outer Space location.
