integration with GitHub issues
hi!
i've talked with a few open source developers about Loomio, and while they love the idea, they are hesitant to have another source of truth on top of their current communication systems.
"I’m conflicted about adding any more mediums for communication than 1 for chat (here, IRC) and 1 for code (Github)... honestly it seems like for a technical project like Gittip the features of Loomio should be built into Github" - seanlinsley
i think Loomio should focus on its core, decision-making, and integrate this core with other systems (forums, wikis, chat rooms, games, etc). i think integrating decision-making into GitHub issues would be a great step in that direction.
how do other open source developers feel about this?
I think this is not just an excellent idea, with the right licensing agreement with Github it could provide a revenue stream to fund the entire project.
Another great idea that will certainly be into Loomio 1.0
You could integrate with GitHub right now with browser extensions/plugins like how bufferapp.com add their button to Twitter.com, Loomio could add voting and pie-charts to GitHub issues. See http://huboard.com/ as well on this.
I like this idea in principle but I'm curious about the details.
What are the decisions people want to make on github? Looking at the gittip issues it's not immediately obvious to me how it would be useful.
I could imagine starting an issue which is a decision would be useful or maybe adding a whole new tab called decisions up near issues and milestones which has a familiar github interface for listing all the loomios in a group would be quite useful.
I think it's a good idea. It will be useful for software projects.
