When: 8 October 2019

What: People's Assembly to generate questions and proposals to be put to government departments/ministries

Where: Houses of Parliament

Home office:
• Will you take this seriously and will you take the lead on acting as if there is an emergency?
• Will you get up a cross-departmental task force and be prepared to share your budget?
• When the shit hits the fan, how can you be sure of police fair distribution systems?

Treasury:
• What is needed to change to implement GND now?
• How does the Treasury ensure the country stays within its resource and carbon budget in a just and equitable manner? (globally equitable)
• How do we harmonise monetary and fiscal policy to accord with the necessity of global climate and ecological justice?
• How does the Treasury tackle the power of the 1%?

Housing:
• How will you plan and fund to retrofit UK’s existing building stock?
• How will you plan all new build to be net zero/carbon negative and net gain of biodiversity?
• How will you achieve parity electricity and gas?
• How will you enable active citizens/behaviour change?

Health
• How do you plan to ensure that we change the culture and environment that people are living in to maximize prevention of ill health and promote physical and mental wellbeing and that this is embedded as a requirement in all governmental departments?
• What is your plan for dealing with the direct and indirect health effects of the climate crisis?
• How will you ensure the NHS gets its supply chains to be effectively decarbonized by 2025?

DEFRA
• Education: transition education, guidance and support for farmers
• Local food networks: connecting producers and consumers (Schools, etc); online food directory
• Exploratory research to develop the new model to decarbonize – funding, policy changes

Education
• What’s your public education plan for the next 10 years?
• How will you fund life-long skills training for sustainable development?

Transport
• When are we going to realize that transport is about moving people, not vehicles?
• Why aren’t there cross-departmental discussions about environmental policy? – the climate emergency links to all areas
• Why is all the power in Whitehall? – call for decentralization
