A discussion linked to the existence of bikepolo.com.au and whether AHBPA should have a unique website for announcements such as tournaments, rules, decisions, media and sponsorship that is an official front for bike polo in the region.

This may be rolled into bikepolo.com.au depending on the outcome of that discussion.

Current example is at: http://stage.sydneybikepolo.org/

I think bikepolo.com.au can host this info, but I also think that site is due for a redesign.

Nick, do you see an advantage to having the some of this on an "official" site which is styled and aimed at corporate sponsors and media and have bike polo stay as a more social or casual website where it'd be less strict about PC content?

I for one believe a unique website for the AHBPA is a good idea, however, if bikepolo.com.au can be fixed (for want of a better word) then it may still work.

It could all be on one site (either AHBPA or Bikepolo.com.au) if we didn't have forums etc. So only 'official' stuff is posted. We can call each other wankers and post pictures of our dicks on Facebook, right?

Brook - What John said - the social and casual content is already on Facebook. But so is a lot of the information about events and tournaments. bikepolo.com.au isn't used at the moment so lets fix it up and use it as the "official" site you're suggesting.

Agreed, we should overhaul bikepolo.com.au and make it the source of official information. Splitting AHBPA onto a separate site will only cause confusion.

I'm happy to donate my time/skills to this cause, if anyone has any design experience that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tom. I'm happy with having AHBPA section on bikepolo.com.au as long as the site looks sharp and suitable for using to advertise to media and sponsors. The AHBPA I tried to make look more legit for that part.

I think most importantly the 3 main things the site needs in order are:
1. A good intro to the sport or dedicated section to entice new players
2. A section for media (i.e. press release) or sponsors
3. A place to post official things like AHBPA announcements, rules and contacts.

4th would be the club pages. I think they're still useful to refer people to their clubs info sources.

It basically needs a full overhaul and then needs someone to be able to constantly update and fix it, especially with the idea of having reps changing (potentially) more frequently, contacts will need to be updated more frequently.
