(something like) RSS feed for discussion activity
Currently to monitor activity in a publicly accessible discussion, one must either register as a group member, or periodically visit the discussion web page. Considering that registration poses a barrier for most people, the discussion posts and voting proposals might not reach the desired number of people to make a popular decision.
Therefore it might be a good idea to implement either a RSS feed, or add a config. option to automatically publish discussion posts into social networks. This would provide also an easy in-between on-boarding step and (IMHO) increase the chances that people will eventually join, when they have something to say.
The RSS feed seems like the easier option because one can use services like twitterfeed to convert those into posts on FB, Twitter and other soc. nets.
A workaround is to use service that can generate RSS feeds from web pages using page scraping. Such services already exist.
lovely. It works even on the group level (serves a list of discussions). Thank you. :-)
I know documenting an app is a bi...ch, but maybe you could at least - for now - provide a link to the release notes on the loomio.org page. That might cut on the number of hapless requests like this one. If the entries there were linked to their entries in your feature/bug tracker whose name eludes me for the moment that would be almost perfect.
I plan to use this feature in a group I created recently. The group's purpose is to announce planned terrain work on a mountain trail, used by various types of users I do not "have access to" - x-country skiers, bikers, hikers, etc... - in order to allow them to express their objections or suggestions, or to organize voting if disagreements about the proposed work should occur. This feature will allow me to offer people a way to be informed about the proposals without actually registering.
Thanks Alexander, always good to get some understanding of the real-world application of any functionality.
Regrettably, not only is there no comprehensive documentation, neither are there release notes or a standardised feature/bug tracker fit for public consumption! Documentation is underway (stay tuned for an update very soon), bugs are tracked on Github and feature progress is visible on our Trello roadmap.
@chelsearobinson and @hannahsalmon have been working on a list of all the Loomio features. Maybe @alexanderzatko would like to help with that
@alanna If I find time I will help, but as I run a x-country skiing non-profit org and the season is just starting, I will likely not be able to do much for couple of months.
Hey @alexanderzatko, try adding '.xml' to the end of a discussion URL to see an Atom feed:

We implemented this a while ago - I'd be interested to hear how it is being used
