What sub-groups or "committees" shall we create?

...and how exactly do we devolve decision making power to them?
(so we don't require ALL of CTF to vote on EVERY little decision?)

eg. Admin group are devolved power to vote on certain expenses, without having to wait for everyone (even those who have chosen not to be part of the Admin group) to vote FOR a proposal to cover the cost of an event/purchase/etc.

Could the retreat sub-group meet (!) and then report back to the main FB group and let some discussion happen there, then meet again, back and forth? Isn't it up to the retreat group how they keep everyone informed and get feedback on proposals? I would feel that the subgroup needs to meet first....

Sure. Will you invite us somewhere Greg? at some time? Any time after Sunday works for moi.

I invited last Wednesday but it didn't happen, then left a note asking you to make the next invitation. Over to you Luke.

Ooh can I reply by email? and it appears in Loomio..?
Sorry for not recalling what happened. I can see that in CTF calendar.
To clarify, did you mention it (once?) in FB group & no-one came?
Really sorry I didn't make it. Okay, I'll try and get us together!
Do you recall anyone else expressing an interest in being involved in the Working Retreat committee?

@jemtyler thanks - my proposal is to use "sub groups" on Loomio as the decision making space for committees.

Definitions:

COMMITTEE
A group within ChangeTheFuture that has expressed a particular interest in a specific thing (eg. organising Working Retreats)

LOOMIO
Yep

SUB GROUPS on Loomio
This "discussion" is happening inside "ChangeTheFuture decisions".
Inside/Under "ChangeTheFuture decisions" are 2 "sub groups" currently".
One is "admin" while the other is "tech"

SO
my proposal is that we use these sub groups as a way of not just separating conversations (so that people don't get overloaded with stuff they're not interested in/don't have the capacity for + people IN the group can feel really free to yak on about their specialism/interest endlessly cause it's in a group specially for that!) but these Loomio sub groups would ALSO represent a devolution of decision making power, so let's say a new "Working Retreat" group is created (which anyone can join, any time) - they have special powers to decide when/where/how Working Retreats happen.

So every time we want to create a NEW sub-group, we Propose it, in this discussion thread here in Loomio. (This discussion will never end).

Make sense? x

I now understand better and have changed my vote to Agree.

I like the sub groups as it allows an individual or a group to take charge of an area of expertise. I already feel like much of the decision making is very open and that is great if you like that and not great if you don't like that.

I hope the sub-groups provide a place where specialised knowledge can be pursued and then reported upon.

(for want of a better analogy) It will give the option to provide headlines or summaries rather than needing to read all the small print. Thus making it more accessible to more people.
