Hi all
Strange to write english between french people but things started like this ! I am Prof at ENSTA ParisTech, working in the field of nonlinear dynamics of plates and shells, reduced-order models, application to the physical modeling of musical instruments for sound synthesis purpose, vibration mitigation, aeroelastic instabilities,...

Dear all, I am assistant professor at Modélisation et Simulation Multi-Echelle (MSME) lab, at Université Paris Est (UPE) in France, working in the field of computational structural mechanics. I strongly support and encourage this initiative for creating an international high-quality epi-journal in mechanics.

Welcome Florent and Cyril, and all newly jointed members!
Since this initiative is supposed (and it is already) international, it is better to keep all the discussions in English. The idea behind is that the epijournal should be international.

Hi everyone. I am currently assistant professor at TU Delft and I conduct research on enriched finite element methods and their applications to metamaterials. I met Vlad while a postdoctoral researcher in EPFL. I very much like the initiative, I believe sooner or later such type of initiative will take place as it the role of a publishing company is less important nowadays because of the role technology has played in recent years. However, I’m concerned it would not reach very far if it’s not backed up by big names in the computational mechanics world. This is exactly the game played by the big names in publishing industry as Willey, Elsevier, and Springer. For example, Hughes is the editor in chief of CMAME and his influence has started an incredible amount of research on isogeometric analysis, which is mostly published in that same journal. Something similar happened with IJNME and Belytschko when he was alive. This discussion should definitely take place in iMechanica to raise awareness.

Feel free to start a thread on iMechanica about this epi-journal initiative!

Very good idea to write a post on iMechanica.

Thank you Alejandro for joining and for your support! I agree that this is a great initiative of Mathias and Vincent, that I strongly support. Michele Ciavarella has alredy suggested to advertise it at iMechanica.org, I agree that it's a good idea. Let's do it.

Hi, i'm the librarian of the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Laboratory (LMGC) of Montpellier. I've been advocating for open access for a few years now and I strongly support your initiative for an epi-journal in Mechanics. It is indeed with the support, or even more, the lead of the scientifc community that things are going to change on this topic.
